Sensex recovers, down 230pts; Maruti up 3%

The Sensex has recovered sharply from the day's low of 16,165, and is now down 230 points at 16,448.

The NSE Nifty is down 52 points at 4,901.

ICICI Bank has slumped 6.8% to Rs 955. ACC and DLF have plunged around 5% each to Rs 745 and Rs 680, respectively.

Reliance Communications has tumbled 4.7% to Rs 516. Bajaj Auto has dropped nearly 3% to Rs 2,190.

Larsen & Toubro, Reliance and Infosys have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 3,258, Rs 2,250 and Rs 1,437, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and HDFC Bank have shed 2.3% each at Rs 773 and Rs 1,360, respectively.

Reliance Energy and SBI have declined 2% each to Rs 1,455 and Rs 1,884, respectively. Cipla is down 1.7% at Rs 208.

Maruti has surged 3.4% to Rs 904, and Mahindra & Mahindra has rallied 2% to Rs 698.

Hindalco has advanced 2.3% to Rs 194. TCS and Grasim have gained 1.3% each at Rs 857 and Rs 2,815, respectively.

NTPC and Tata Motors are up over 1% each at Rs 191 and Rs 701, respectively.

Out of 2,631 stocks traded so far, 2,305 have declined, 286 have advanced and 40 are unchanged.
