The Sensex has recovered smartly from the day's low of 11,934, and is now down 26 points at 12,132.
HDFC and ACC have surged around 4.5% each to Rs 1,927 and Rs 621, respectively. DLF has rallied 3.3% to Rs 244.
Grasim has moved up 2.7% to Rs 1,819. Bharti Airtel has added 1.4% to Rs 806.
Reliance Infrastrucutre and BHEL are up over 1% each at Rs 800 and Rs 1,707, respectively.
HDFC Bank and ONGC have shed around 2.5% each at Rs 1,159 and Rs 862, respectively.
Tata Steel and Sterlite have dropped over 2% each to Rs 269 and Rs 481, respectively.
SBI and Mahindra & Mahindra have slipped 1.7% each to Rs 1,273 and Rs 514, respectively.
The market breadth is positive - out of 2,417 stocks traded so far, 1,274 have advanced, 1,032 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
