Sensex recovers, down 39pts

The Sensex has recovered smartly from the day's low and is now down 39 points at 20,177.

DLF has soared 4.5% to Rs 1,056. Tata Steel has surged 2% to Rs 925.

Reliance Energy and Grasim have rallied 1.7% each to Rs 2,171 and Rs 3,648, respectively.

Ambuja Cements, ITC and Ranbaxy have gained 1.3% each at Rs 147, Rs 206 and Rs 417, respectively.

Wipro has plunged 3.4% to Rs 531, and Bharti Airtel has tumbled 2.4% to Rs 943.

Bajaj Auto has slipped over 2% to Rs 2,614. TCS has shed 1.7% at Rs 1,082, and ONGC has dropped 1.5% to Rs 1,222.

ICICI Bank has declined 1.3% to Rs 1,225, and Maruti is down over 1% at Rs 983.

Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Satyam are the other major losers at Rs 729, Rs 1,729 and Rs 447, respectively.

Out of 2,948 stocks traded so far, 2,216 have advanced, 705 have declined and 27 are unchanged.
