Sensex recovers, down 8pts; breadth -ve

The Sensex has recovered almost all its losses and is now down eight points at 17,609.

The NSE Nifty is unchanged at 5,154.

Satyam has zoomed nearly 9% to Rs 459. Wipro has soared 5% to Rs 432. TCS and Infosys have surged around 3.5% each to Rs 915 and Rs 1,620, respectively.

Hindalco has rallied over 4% to Rs 184, and Tata Steel has gained 3.3% at Rs 798.

Hindustan Unilever has moved up 2.5% to Rs 219, and Ambuja Cements has added nearly 2% to Rs 118.

Bajaj Auto and DLF have advanced 1.7% each to Rs 2,380 and Rs 828, respectively.

Cipla has gained 1.4% at Rs 188. ACC and Ranbaxy are up over 1% each at Rs 775 and Rs 417, respectively.

HDFC has tumbled nearly 4% to Rs 2,645. ICICI Bank and SBI have tumbled around 2% each to Rs 1,141 and Rs 2,163, respectively.

BHEL has shed 1.3% at Rs 2,096, and HDFC Bank is down 1% at Rs 1,518.

Out of 2,741 stocks traded so far, 1,386 have declined, 1,277 have advanced and 78 are unchanged.
