The Sensex has recovered partially from its day's low of 16,017. The index is now at 16,118, down 33 points and the NSE Nifty is at 4,821, down five points
Bharti Airtel continues to be the major dragger on the Sensex, sheds 7% to Rs 293. Sterlite, Reliance Communications and Tata Power have slipped 2% each to Rs 746, Rs 165 and Rs 1,244, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure, HUL, Larsen & Toubro and Maruti are down 1% each.
BHEL, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra on the other hand are up 1% each at Rs 2,359, Rs 541 and Rs 997, respectively.
The market breadth has turned negative, out of 2,744 shares traded, 1,340 have declined and 1,310 have advanced so far on the BSE.
Among the sectoral indices, the healthcare index and the IT indices are up 1% each while the bankex and the realty indices have slipped.
