Sensex recovers partially, down 178pts

The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low of 12,390, but is still down 178 points at 12,519.

Gujarat Ambuja has slumped 8.5% to Rs 104. ACC has crashed 8% to Rs 795, and Grasim has slipped over 2% to Rs 2,080.

Wipro has tumbled over 5% to Rs 550. Ranbaxy has shed 3.7% to Rs 310, and Maruti has dropped 2.7% to Rs 768.

Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, ITC and Satyam have declined around 2% each to Rs 410, Rs 834, Rs 159 and Rs 426, respectively.

Cipla and Dr.Reddy's have moved up nearly 2% each to Rs 226 and Rs 632, respectively.

HDFC has advanced 1.4% to Rs 1,522, and Reliance Communications has added 1% to Rs 405.

Out of 2,528 stocks traded so far, 2,019 have declined, 463 have advanced and 46 are unchanged.
