Sensex recovers partially, down 181pts

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 182 points at 19,603, and soon slipped to a low of 19,473. The index has recovered partially and is now down 181 points at 19,604.

ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 1,217 and Rs 1,660, respectively.

HDFC has tumbled over 2% to Rs 2,661. BHEL has shed 1.5% at Rs 2,782.

Ranbaxy, Tata Motors and Satyam have slipped 1.3% each to Rs 418, Rs 690 and Rs 423, respectively.

Infosys, Hindalco and Hindustan Unilever are down 1% each at Rs 1,635, Rs 214 and Rs 198, respectively.

ITC has surged 2.3% to Rs 194.
