Sensex recovers partially, down 313pts

The Sensex has recovered some of its lost ground and is now down 313 points at 13,486. The index had tumbled to a low of 13,262.

SBI has tumbled 6.5% to Rs 1,264. ICICI Bank has plunged nearly 6% to Rs 826, and ACC has dropped 5.5% to Rs 1,045.

NTPC has shed 5% to Rs 144. Tata Steel and HDFC Bank are down around 4.5% each to Rs 460 and Rs 1,038, respectively.

Reliance Communications and Reliance Energy have slipped 4% each to Rs 429 and Rs 533, respectively. Bharti Airtel is down 3.7% at Rs 610.

Out of 2,590 stocks traded so far, 1,958 have declined, 597 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
