Sensex recovers partially, down 490pts

The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low of 19,513, and is now down 490 points at 19,761.

The NSE Nifty is down 162 points at 5,911.

HDFC Bank, NTPC and Reliance Communications have tumbled over 6.5% each to Rs 1,665, Rs 256 and Rs 727, respectively.

Reliance Energy and BHEL have plunged around 6% each to Rs 2,223 and Rs 2,277, respectively.

DLF and ITC have slumped around 5% each to Rs 1,114 and Rs 206, respectively. Tata Steel has shed 4.5% at Rs 814.

Hindalco has slipped 3.6% to Rs 191. Reliance, Maruti and Tata Motors have dropped 3.3% each to Rs 3,055, Rs 838 and Rs 744, respectively.

Ranbaxy has declined nearly 3% to Rs 379. Larsen & Toubro, ACC and Satyam have shed around 2.5% each to Rs 3,959, Rs 853 and Rs 379, respectively.

HDFC and Mahindra & Mahindra are down 2% each at Rs 2,841 and Rs 720, respectively.

Out of 2,814 stocks traded so far, 2,425 have declined, 374 have advanced and 15 are unchanged.
