Sensex recovers partially, down 494pts

The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low of 17,936, and is now down 494 points at 18,169.

The NSE Nifty is down 150 points at 5,334.

Bharti Airtel has slumped nearly 5% to Rs 890, and Satyam has plunged 4.6% to Rs 418.

Wipro, Hindalco, Infosys and HDFC have tumbled around 4% each to Rs 436, Rs 174, Rs 1,546 and Rs 2,950, respectively.

TCS, Tata Motors and Ranbaxy have dropped around 3.5% each to Rs 915, Rs 729 and Rs 374, respectively.

ONGC has shed 3.3% at Rs 1,039. DLF, Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank and Tata Steel have slipped nearly 3% each to Rs 864, Rs 2,335, Rs 1,156 and Rs 795, respectively.

Reliance, SBI and Grasim have declined 2.7% each to Rs 2,544, Rs 2,167 and Rs 2,899, respectively.

ITC has declined 2.5% to Rs 201. Hindustan Unilever, Maruti and Reliance Energy are down 2.3% each at Rs 204, Rs 852 and Rs 1,979, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and BHEL have dropped around 2% each to Rs 3,772 and Rs 2,045, respectively.
