Sensex recovers partially, down 595pts

The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low of 14,989, and is now down 595 points at 15,165.

The NSE Nifty is down 159 points at 4,587.

HDFC has slumped 10% to Rs 2,255. Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has plunged nearly 7% to Rs 220.

ICICI Bank and Ranbaxy have tumbled around 6.5% each to Rs 821 and Rs 435, respectively.

DLF and Tata Steel have shed 5.3% each at Rs 619 and Rs 677, respectively.

Hindalco, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications have slipped over 4.5% each to Rs 173, Rs 1,255, Rs 718 and Rs 495, respectively.

SBI, Tata Motors and Reliance Energy have dropped around 4% each to Rs 1,643, Rs 610 and Rs 1,245, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, Reliance and NTPC are down around 3.5% each at Rs 2,805, Rs 2,242 and Rs 188, respectively.
