Sensex recovers partially, down 73pts

The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low and is now down 73 points at 17,219.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 9.6% to Rs 1,321. NTPC has soared 4.6% to Rs 202.

Mahindra & Mahindra has rallied 3% to Rs 775. Reliance Communications has surged 2.5% to Rs 600.

Dr.Reddy's and Ambuja Cements have advanced over 2% each to Rs 663 and Rs 147, respectively.

Hindalco and Cipla have gained nearly 2% each at Rs 175 and Rs 186, respectively. ONGC has moved up 1.7% to Rs 974.

Wipro, TCS and SBI have plunged 2.7% each to Rs 447, Rs 1,028 and Rs 1,900, respectively.

ICICI Bank, ITC and Infosys have dropped 2% each to Rs 1,041, Rs 186 and Rs 1,860, respectively.

BHEL, HDFC and Tata Steel have shed 1.8% each to Rs 1,996, Rs 2,482 and Rs 836, respectively.

Satyam, Maruti, HDFC Bank and Grasim have slipped over 1.5% each.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,602 stocks traded so far, 1,505 have advanced, 1,026 have declined and 71 are unchanged.
