Sensex recovers partially; Infosys gains 3%

The Sensex opened 96 points higher at 10,073 following positive cues from the US markets. The index, however, could not hold gains and soon slipped into red to a low of 9,829. The index has recovered partially and is now down 76 points at 9,901.

Satyam has slumped 27% to Rs 166 following the Maytas deal fiasco. Yesterday the company had announced its plans to diversify into infrastructure by approving $1.6 billion investment in Maytas Infra and Maytas Properties. However, today the company called off the deal following negative feedback from the investor community.

Reliance Infrastructure has tumbled over 7% to Rs 591, and Reliance Communications has plunged over 4% to Rs 224.

 

DLF has shed 3.3% to Rs 268. Reliance and Hindalco have dropped nearly 3% each to Rs 1,347 and Rs 54, respectively.

ACC and Jaiprakash Associates are down around 2.5% each to Rs 523 and Rs 85, respectively.

On the other hand, Infosys has rallied 3% to Rs 1,156.

ICICI Bank has gained 2.6% at Rs 433. Grasim and HDFC Bank have moved up 1.4% each to Rs 1,245 and Rs 997, respectively.
