The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low of 14,286, and is now down 50 points at 14,400.
Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance have plunged 2.7% each to Rs 155 and Rs 2,172, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahidnra has dropped nearly 2% to Rs 553. Tata Steel has shed 1.5% at Rs 577, and Bharti Airtel is down 1% at Rs 806.
HDFC Bank has surged 3.5% to Rs 1,250. Maruti and Satyam have rallied 2.5% each to Rs 641 and Rs 403, respectively.
Wipro has gained 2% at Rs 428. TCS has declined 1.5% to Rs 830, and BHEL is down over 1% at Rs 1,707.
Out of 2,462 stocks traded so far, 1,440 have declined, 934 have advanced and 88 are unchanged.
