The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low of 14,481, and is now down 96 points at 14,550.
The NSE Nifty is down 25 points at 4,368.
Maruti has tumbled 3.4% to Rs 620. Sterlite has shed 2.3% at Rs 597.
ACC and Bharti Airtel have plunged 2% each to Rs 583 and Rs 793, respectively.
Reliance Communications and Hindalco have dropped 1.7% each to Rs 405 and Rs 127, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra has declined 1.5% to Rs 560. BHEL and Tata Motors are down over 1% each at Rs 1,677 and Rs 420, respectively.
