Sensex recovers partially; ONGC gains 2%

The Sensex opened 125 points lower at 9,111, and touched a low of 9,087 in opening trades. Fresh buying interest at lower levels has helped the index recoup most losses and is now down 55 points at 9,181.

ONGC has surged over 2% to Rs 653. Ranbaxy and Grasim have advanced over 1.5% each to Rs 214 and Rs 1,199, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever and ITC have added 1.3% each to Rs 260 and Rs 178, respectively.

Sun Pharma has slumped 5.5% to Rs 1,082. BHEL has plunged 4.7% to Rs 1,292.

Sterlite and Jaiprakash Associates have shed 2.5% each at Rs 261 and Rs 68, respectively.

 

DLF and Tata Motors have dropped over 2% each to Rs 161 and Rs 147, respectively.

Tata Steel has declined nearly 2% to Rs 180. Reliance Infrastructure, Mahindra & Mahindra and NTPC have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 546, Rs 291 and Rs 187, respectively.

HDFC, Tata Power and ICICI Bank are also down around 1.5% each at Rs 1,507, Rs 749 and Rs 403, respectively.
