Sensex recovers partially; Ranbaxy soars 5%, Sterlite drops 5%

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 156 points at 12,900, and soon slipped to a low of 12,851. The index has recovered partially and is now down 57 points at 12,999.

Ranbaxy has soared 5.5% to Rs 266.

BHEL and Jaiprakash Associates have surged around 2% each to Rs 1,626 and Rs 121, respectively.

NTPC has gained 1.5% at Rs 177. Larsen & Toubro is up 1.2% at Rs 1,231.

Sterlite has slumped 5.6% to Rs 405. Tata Motors has shed 3.5% at Rs 328.

Infosys and Tata Steel have dropped 3% each to Rs 1,411 and Rs 426, respectively.

 

TCS has slipped 2.7% to Rs 653. Satyam, Maruti, Reliance and Wipro have declined around 2% each to Rs 312, Rs 684, Rs 1,871 and Rs 343, respectively.

Grasim is down 1.5% at Rs 1,740, and Reliance Communications is down over 1% to Rs 339.
