The Sensex has recovered smartly from the day's low of 15,013, and is now down 79 points at 15,133.
The NSE Nifty is down 21 points at 4,531.
ICICI Bank has plunged over 3% to Rs 715, and HDFC Bank has slipped over 2% to Rs 1,237.
DLF has dropped nearly 2% to Rs 557. Maruti, ONGC and Mahindra & Mahindra have declined 1.5% each to Rs 667, Rs 1,072 and Rs 586, respectively.
HDFC has shed 1.3% at Rs 2,435. Grasim, Tata Motors, Hindalco and Bharti Airtel are down 1% each at Rs 2,049, Rs 431, Rs 141 and Rs 815, respectively.
Sterlite has surged 2.5% to Rs 612. Tata Steel has advanced over 1% to Rs 615.
