Sensex recovers, up 9 pts

Renewed buying in select heavyweight, tech, banking and auto stocks has seen the index erase its losses in early noon trades. The Sensex, as a result, is now up nine points at 6,544. The Nifty, too, has rolled back into the green at 2,058 - up three points.

Reliance has inched up by a per cent gain (Rs 3) to Rs 533. ITC (down Rs 9 to Rs 1,322) and HLL (down Rs 2 to Rs 160) are still trading on a lacklustre note.

Infosys, after a mixed outing in early trades, is up with a small gain of Rs 3 at Rs 2,032. While Wipro is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 692, Satyam is trading lower at Rs 402 - down Rs 2.

HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are up a per cent each at Rs 565 (up Rs 4) and Rs 362 (up Rs 2), respectively. SBI, however, is still trading at lower levels at Rs 638 - down Rs 4.

Bajaj has gained a per cent (Rs 10) to Rs 1,074. Hero Honda and Maruti are up Rs 2 each at Rs 536 and Rs 461, respectively. Tata Motors is up Rs 2 at Rs 495.

HDFC has moved up 1.72% (Rs 14) to Rs 806, while Hindalco has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 11) to Rs 1,377. Reliance Energy is up a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 576. Tata Power and Tisco are also trading with steady gains at Rs 393 and Rs 400, respectively. Bharti, however, is subdued with a loss of nearly 2% (Rs 4) at Rs 217.
