While selling pressure in select heavyweights, banking, auto and other old economy stocks dragged the index to a low of 6,705, steady buying is seen in tech and other select counters. The Sensex has lost 33 points to 6,714, while the Nifty is down 13 points at 2,113. ONGC is trading weaker by Rs 4 at Rs 903. While Reliance has lost a per cent (Rs 4) to Rs 569, HLL is down a rupee at Rs 134. ITC, however, after a weak opening, is up with a steady gain of Rs 2 at Rs 1,339. HDFC Bank has slumped 2.32% (Rs 14) to Rs 580. SBI and ICICI Bank are down a rupee each at Rs 727 and Rs 400, respectively. HPCL is trading lower by 1.62% (Rs 5) at Rs 334. Bajaj has scaled down 1.23% (Rs 13) to Rs 1,081, while Maruti has declined 1.56% (Rs 7) to Rs 443. Hero Honda and Tata Motors are down a per cent each at Rs 549 (down Rs 4) and Rs 453 (down Rs 3), respectively. Bharti has dropped 2.22% (Rs 5) to Rs 205, and L&T is down a per cent (Rs 9) at Rs 1,059. Tisco and Tata Power are also trading weak at Rs 436 and Rs 377, respectively. Reliance Energy, however, is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 543. ACC is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 363, while Gujarat Ambuja is up a notch at Rs 428. Grasim, however, has lost 1.19% (Rs 16) to Rs 1,324. Infosys, Wipro and Satyam are trading with marginal gains at Rs 2,195, Rs 682 and Rs 403, respectively. |
