Sensex sheds 175pts; SBI, REL, BHEL drag

The Sensex has tumbled to lower levels and is now down 175 points at 13,224.

SBI, Reliance Energy and BHEL have plunged 3.5% each to Rs 1,200, Rs 508 and Rs 2,447, respectively.

HDFC has shed 3% to Rs 1,499. HLL has dropped 2.7% to Rs 223.

Reliance Communications, ITC, ONGC, NTPC and Cipla are down around 2% each to Rs 420, Rs 176, Rs 817, Rs 140 and Rs 239, respectively.

Out of 2,486 stocks traded so far, 1,655 have declined, 753 have advanced and 78 are unchanged.
