The Sensex has extended further losses and is now at 11,840, down 180 points.
The IT index and the Bankex have declined over 1% each to 2,752 and 6,091, respectively.
Bharti Airtel has dropped over 4% to Rs 763.
Sterlite has slipped 3.5% to Rs 458. Tata Motors and ICICI Bank have shed 3% each to Rs 260 and Rs 534, respectively.
Larsen & Toubro, ONGC and Infosys are down 2% each.
DLF has gained 3% at Rs 239 and Ranbaxy is up 2% at Rs 181.
The market breadth continues to be negative. Out of 2,194 stocks traded, 1,204 have declined, 904 have advanced and 86 are unchanged so far.
