Sensex sheds 250pts; Auto, realty stocks slide

The Sensex has extended losses and is now down 248 points at 8,845.

All sectoral indices are in negative territory - The Auto and Realty indices have plunged over 4% each to 2,227 and 1,494, respectively.

Maruti has slumped 8.8% to Rs 489. DLF and ICICI Bank have plunged over 8% each to Rs 182 and Rs 324, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure has tumbled 7.5% to Rs 464. BHEL has shed almost 7% to Rs 1,268.

ITC and Wipro have slipped 4.7% each to Rs 165 and Rs 232, respectively.

Ranbaxy has dropped over 4% to Rs 200. Tata Power, Larsen & Toubro and Mahindra & Mahindra have declined around 3.5% each to Rs 645, Rs 702
and Rs 272, respectively.

 

TCS, Grasim and Jaiprakash Associates have advanced over 1% each to Rs 566, Rs 900 and Rs 57, respectively.

Tata Steel and Sterlite are also up 1% each at Rs 153 and Rs 239, respectively.

The market breadth has turned negative - out of 2,101 stocks traded so far, 1,035 have declined, 998 have advanced and 68 are unchanged,
