The Sensex opened marginally lower at 6,283, but added another four points over its previous close to touch a high of 6,288. However, strong selling pressure in heavyweights and other old economy counters dragged the index to a low of 6,231. The Sensex is now down 28 points at 6,256, while the Nifty has shed 17 points to 1,924. ITC has dropped 1.28% (Rs 19) to Rs 1,433. ONGC, Reliance and HLL have commenced weak at Rs 832, Rs 542 and Rs 142, respectively. HDFC Bank has slipped a per cent (Rs 4) to Rs 533. While SBI, too, is trading lower at Rs 602, ICICI Bank has commenced with a per cent gain (Rs 3) to Rs 378. Satyam has lost 1.47% (Rs 6) to Rs 412, while Wipro has slipped a per cent (Rs 6) to Rs 633. Infosys, however, has resumed flat at Rs 1,905. Hero Honda has shed 2% (Rs 10) to Rs 509, while Tata Motors is down a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 424. HDFC has declined 1.44% (Rs 11) to Rs 738. Ranbaxy has slumped 3.23% (Rs 30) to Rs 888. Dr. Reddy's has dipped 1.43% (Rs 9) to Rs 640, and Cipla is down a rupee at Rs 256. Bharti, however, is up a per cent (Rs 2) at Rs 209. |
