Sensex slips 195pts; Sun Pharma bucks trend

The Sensex has slipped to a low of 13,257. The index is now down 195 points at 13,309.

Tata Steel has tumbled 5% to Rs 335. Jaiprakash Associates has slumped 4.5% to Rs 178.

Tata Power, Reliance Communications and Reliance Infrastructure have dropped 4% each to Rs 1,023, Rs 233 and Rs 991, respectively.

Hindalco and Maruti Suzuki have shed 3.5% each at Rs 70 and Rs 1,066, respectively. DLF, Larsen & Toubro and Mahindra & Mahindra have slipped 3% each.

Grasim, Reliance, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, Sterlite, Bharti Airtel, Hero Honda, ACC, Bhel and NTPC have declined 1-2% each.

 

However, Sun Pharma has gained 2% at Rs 1,146. Infosys have added 1% to Rs 1,748.

The market breadth is extremely negative. Out of 2,088 stocks traded, 1,684 have declined while 366 have advanced.
