Sensex slips 283pts; DLF, NTPC drop 5%

The Sensex is now down 283 points at 19,418.

DLF has plunged 5.6% to Rs 1,025, and NTPC has slumped 5.3% to Rs 242.

Reliance has dropped 3.5% to Rs 2,893, and HDFC Bank has tumbled nearly 3% to Rs 1,600.

Maruti and Larsen & Toubro have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 845 and Rs 3,982, respectively.

BHEL and Hindalco have shed 2% each at Rs 2,300 and Rs 187, respectively.

ONGC, HDFC and TCS have declined 1.7% each to Rs 1,229, Rs 2,801 and Rs 907, respectively.

Wipro and Tata Steel are down around 1.5% each at Rs 453 and Rs 799, respectively.

Ranbaxy has zoomed 8% to Rs 396. Bajaj Auto has surged 2% to Rs 2,490.

ACC and Bharti Airtel have moved up 1.4% each to Rs 873 and Rs 884, respectively.

Satyam and Ambuja Cements are up 1% each at Rs 377 and Rs 132, respectively.

Out of 2,857 stocks traded so far, 2,156 have declined, 658 have advanced and 43 are unchanged.
