Sensex slips 285pts; HLL surges 2%

The Sensex is now down 285 points at 14,254.

Hindalco has plunged 13% to Rs 151. Tata Motors, HDFC and BHEL  have shed around 4% each to Rs 870, Rs 1,748 and Rs 2,411, respectively.

Reliance Energy has slipped over 3% to Rs 538. Larsen & Toubro, Ranbaxy, Maruti and Bajaj Auto have slipped over 2.5% each to Rs 1,668, Rs 405, Rs 916 and Rs 2,968, respectively.

HLL has surged 1.7% to Rs 206.

Out of 2,625 stocks traded so far, 2,243 have declined, 359 have advanced and 23 are unchanged.
