Sensex slips 317pts; Tata Motors drops 5%

The Sensex is now down 317 points at 14,222.

Hindalco has plunged over 13% to Rs 150. Tata Motors has shed 4.5% at Rs 865. Reliance Energy, HDFC and Reliance Communications have dropped 3.7% each to Rs 536, Rs 1,750 and Rs 458, respectively.

BHEL, Maruti and Larsen & Toubro have slipped over 3% each to Rs 2,420, Rs 912 and Rs 1,664, respectively.

Out of 2,612 stocks traded so far, 2,275 have declined, 316 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
