Sensex slips 55pts; breadth -ve

The Sensex has slipped back into the negative zone and is now down 55 points at 14,194.

Maruti, Grasim, Gujarat Ambuja, ACC and Satyam have surged 2.3% each to Rs 785, Rs 2,790, Rs 134, Rs 975 and Rs 427, respectively.

HDFC and Infosys have advanced 1.7% each to Rs 1,933 and Rs 1,818, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, Dr.Reddy's and Larsen & Toubro are up over 1% each at Rs 199, Rs 634 and Rs 2,411, respectively.

Cipla has shed 3.8% to Rs 169. ONGC, ICICI Bank and Tata Steel have slipped 2% each to Rs 791, Rs 830 and Rs 558, respectively.

SBI has dropped 1.8% to Rs 1,432. Reliance Energy and HDFC Bank have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 713 and Rs 1,103, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,629 stocks traded so far, 1,544 have declined, 1,020 have advanced and 65 are unchanged.
