Sensex slips 55pts; Grasim sheds 2%

The Sensex is now down 55 points at 12,182.

Grasim has slipped 1.8% to Rs 2,474. Bajaj Auto, ITC, TCS and Larsen & Toubro have slipped 1.6% each to Rs 2,872, Rs 185, Rs 1,026 and Rs 2,615, respectively.

HLL and Reliance Communications have shed 1.5% each to Rs 254 and Rs 342, respectively.

ONGC, Dr.Reddy's and NTPC are down over 1% each.

Tata Steel has surged 2.5% to Rs 509, and Tata Motors has moved up 1.8% to Rs 851.

ICICI Bank has advanced 2% to Rs 669. Reliance, Hero Honda and Bharti are up 1% each at Rs 1,167, Rs 773 and Rs 473, respectively.

Out of 2,572 stocks traded so far, 1,487 have declined, 1,018 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
