Sensex slips after a positive start

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 30 points at 11,693. The index touched a high of 11,703, but soon tumbled into the negative zone to a low of 11594.

The index is now down 42 points at 11,621.

Hindalco has spurted 2% to Rs 196.

Hero Honda has dropped 2.6% to Rs 847. Bharti Tele has declined 2% to Rs 397.

Cipla, HDFC Bank and Tata Motors have slipped 1.5% to Rs 713, Rs 811 and Rs 937, respectively.
