Sensex slips again, down 517pts

The Sensex has slipped back deeper into red and is now down 517 points at 17,559.

The NSE Nifty is down 154 points at 5,126.

BHEL has slumped 4.5% to Rs 2,126, and Tata Steel has plunged 4.3% to Rs 778.

Tata Motors, Reliance Communications and NTPC have tumbled nearly 4% each to Rs 709, Rs 582 and Rs 197,  respectively.

HDFC, ICICI Bank, ACC and Maruti have shed 3.7% each to Rs 2,752, Rs 1,172, Rs 760 and Rs 778, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever dropped 3.5% to Rs 213.

Satyam and TCS are up 1% each at Rs 426 and Rs 883, respectively.

Out of 2,746 stocks traded so far, 1,928 have declined, 768 have advanced and 50 are unchanged.
