Sensex slips back into red, down 42pts

A fresh round of selling has dragged the Sensex back into the negative zone. The index is now down 42 points at 11,548.

However, cement stocks continue to hold gains. ACC has soared 3.6% to Rs 919. Gujarat Ambuja has gained 2.5% to Rs 111, and Grasim is up 1.7% at Rs 2,236.

TCS has rebounded into the positive zone and is now up 1.3% at Rs 1,913. Infosys and Tata Steel are up nearly 1% each at Rs 3,195 and Rs 546, respectively.

Maruti has dropped 1.7% to Rs 879. ICICI Bank, SBI and Wipro have slipped 1.5% each to Rs 591, Rs 964 and Rs 532, respectively.

Hindalco, ONGC and HLL have declined 1% each to Rs 185, Rs 1,265 and Rs 278, respectively.

The market breadth is positive. Out of 2,285 stocks traded so far, 1,273 have advanced, 965 have declined and 47 are unchanged.
