Sensex slips below 18, 000

After a downward movement from the start of the day, the Sensex finally slipped below the 18,000 mark. An intra-day low of 17,960 was registered. However, the index recovered and is at  at 17999, higher by one point  and the Nifty is at 5404, down four points.The smallcap index and the midcap index is down 0.2% as compared to the benchmark index which  is down 0.01%.

Among the sectoral indices on the BSE, Metal index up 1.2% continues to lead followed by Auto, Health Care, Oil & Gas, PSU and Consumer Durables. All the other indics have slipped into the red.
