Sensex slips, but recovers soon

The Sensex tumbled into the negative zone to a low of 14,127, but soon bounced back and is now flat at 14,218.

ONGC has plunged 2.7% to Rs 946. Tata Steel and HDFC have dropped 2.5% each to Rs 557 and Rs 1,710, respectively.

Satyam, Hero Honda, HDFC Bank and Reliance Energy have slipped over 2% each to Rs 456, Rs 673, Rs 1,010 and Rs 513, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja has shed 1.5% to Rs 119. NTPC and Tata Motors have declined 1.3% each to Rs 155 and Rs 749, respectively.

Grasim and ICICI Bank are up over 1% each at Rs 2,470 and Rs 972, respectively.

Out of 2,582 stocks traded so far, 1,507 have declined, 990 have advanced and 85 are unchanged.
