Sensex slips deeper into red; Maruti sheds 4%

The Sensex has slipped deeper into red, and is now down 220 points at 14,345.

Maruti has plunged 4% to Rs 625. Tata Steel has tumbled 3.5% to Rs 580.

Ranbaxy, BHEL and ICICI Bank have slipped around 3% each to Rs 503, Rs 1,658 and Rs 652, respectively.

SBI, Reliance Communications and NTPC have dropped around 2.5% each to Rs 1,366, Rs 386 and Rs 171, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure, Bharti Airtel and Larsen & Toubro have shed 2.3% each at Rs 968, Rs 818 and Rs 2,531, respectively.

ONGC, Tata Power and Hindustan Unilever have declined 2% each to Rs 1,003, Rs 1,030 and Rs 241, respectively.

 

DLF, Tata Motors and ITC are the other major losers.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,207 stocks traded so far, 1,191 have declined, 945 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
