Sensex slips further, down 52 pts

Barring select heavyweight stocks, selling pressure has gripped the market with the index further sliding to a low of 6,643.

The Sensex has shed 52 points to 6,656, while the Nifty is down eight points at 2,068.

Wipro has plunged 2.35% (Rs 17) to Rs 707. Infosys has dropped 1.37% (Rs 30) to Rs 2,201, while Satyam has declined 2.71% (Rs 12) to Rs 445.

ICICI Bank has lost 1.62% (Rs 6) to Rs 392, with SBI trading a per cent lower (Rs 5) at Rs 662.

Reliance is trading with a per cent loss (Rs 4) at Rs 527, while ITC (down Rs 8 to Rs 1,562) has slipped into the red from higher levels.

Tata Motors has dropped 2% (Rs 9) to Rs 433. Bajaj has tumbled 1.79% (Rs 22) to Rs 1,211, and Hero Honda has lost 1.60% (Rs 9) to Rs 569.

Hindalco has shed 2.91% (Rs 34) to Rs 1,139, and HDFC has declined 1.63% (Rs 12) to Rs 752. L&T has lost 2.78% (Rs 30) to Rs 1,064.

HLL (up Rs 5 or 3.73% to Rs 143) continues to trade on a firm note, while ONGC is up a per cent (Rs 7) at Rs 908.
