Sensex slips into red; breadth narrows

The Sensex has slipped into the negative zone and is now down nine points at 14,240.

HDFC has soared 3.5% to Rs 1,968.

ACC has soared nearly 3% to Rs 981. Grasim and Ambuja Cements have surged 2.7% each to Rs 2,800 and Rs 134, respectively.

HDFC has rallied 2.5% to Rs 1,948. Larsen & Toubro and Infosys have advanced 2% each to Rs 2,433 and Rs 1,825, respectively.

Satyam has moved up 1.8% to Rs 425. Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel and ITC have gained 1.5% each at Rs 628, Rs 860 and Rs 161, respectively.

NTPC, Hindalco and Hindustan Unilever are up around 1% each.

Cipla has shed 2.7% to Rs 171. HDFC Bank has dropped 1.7% to Rs 1,100, and SBI has declined 1.4% to Rs 1,438.

Tata Steel is down over 1% at Rs 563.

The market breadth has narrowed down - out of 2,551 stocks traded so far, 1,331 have advanced, 1,166 have declined and 54 are unchanged.
