Sensex slips into red, Infosys firm

The Sensex has slipped back into the negative zone and is now down 40 points at 9,070.

Infosys has surged 5.5% to Rs 1,219, and Wipro has moved up 3.5% to Rs 235.

Ranbaxy has soared 4.5% to Rs 216. TCS, Tata Power and ITC have gained 3% each at Rs 527, Rs 749 and Rs 170, respectively.

BHEL, ACC, SBI, Reliance Infrastructure and Larsen & Toubro are up over 1% each.

Tata Motors has slumped 5.7% to Rs 153. Reliance Communications has tumbled nearly 4% to Rs 173.

ICICI Bank, HDFC and Bharti Airtel have shed 3% each at Rs 425, Rs 1,574 and Rs 606, respectively.

 

Grasim has dropped 2.5% to Rs 1,325. HDFC Bank, Jaiprakash Associates and Hindustan Unilever are down around 2% each at Rs 983, Rs 68 and Rs 258, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,338 stocks traded so far, 1,351 have declined, 887 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
