Sensex slips into red; M&M, Ranbaxy shed 3%

The Sensex opened 73 points higher at 8,768. The index moved up to a high fo 8,828, and has since pared its entire gains and now slipped into red. The index is now down six points at 8,690.

Sterlite has surged over 4% to Rs 213. ICICI Bank has rallied over 3% to Rs 330.

Bharti Airtel, Wipro and HDFC Bank have gained around 2% each at Rs 640, Rs 234 and Rs 851, respectively.

Grasim, ONGC and HDFC are up around 1% each at Rs 907, Rs 693 and Rs 1,363, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Ranbaxy have plunged around 3% each to Rs 269 and Rs 198, respectively.

 

Tata Steel and Hindalco have shed 2.5% each at Rs 147 and Rs 50, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates has slipped 2% to Rs 54. SBI and Reliance Communications have dropped 1.5% each to Rs 1,056 and Rs 193, respectivley.

Infosys and DLF are down over 1% each at Rs 1,166 and Rs 186, respectively.
