Sensex slips into red; Tata Steel up 3%

The Sensex opened 40 points higher at 9,242. The index, however, has slipped into red and is now down 26 points at 9,175.

Tata Steel has surged nearly 3% to Rs 184, and Hindalco has moved up nearly 2% to Rs 45.

Tata Motors has slipped over 3% to Rs 131, and DLF has shed 2.7% at Rs 136.

Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped 2% to Rs 277. Maruti has declined 1.6% to Rs 593.

Sterlite, Jaiprakash Associates and HDFC Bank are down 1% each at Rs 276, Rs 69 and Rs 888, respectively.
