Sensex slips over 100pts on fresh selling

The Sensex has slipped deeper into red on the back of fresh selling in the market. The index is now down 112 points at 8,493.

Tata Power has slumped 4.5% to Rs 680.

Reliance Communications and TCS have tumbled over 3% each to Rs 141 and Rs 445, respectively.

ITC has shed nearly 3% at Rs 174. Bharti Airtel has dropped 2.5% to Rs 603.

Sun Pharma and HDFC have slipped over 2% each to Rs 973 and Rs 1,210, respectively.

ONGC, Tata Steel and Hindustan Unilever have dropped nearly 2% each to Rs 652, Rs 157 and Rs 240, respectively.

 

Grasim has surged 3.6% to Rs 1,372.

ACC and Jaiprakash Associates have moved up around 1.5% each to Rs 531 and Rs 63, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,437 stocks traded so far, 1,477 have declined, 841 have advanced and 119 are unchanged.
