Sensex slumps 111pts; HDFC drops 4%

The Sensex slipped to a low of 9714, and is now down 111 points at 9733.

HDFC has plunged over 4% to Rs 1,305. ONGC has dropped 2.7% to Rs 1,153.

ITC and ACC has slipped 2.2% each to Rs 152 and Rs 579, respectively.

HLL, Wipro, Hindalco, Reliance, ICICI Bank, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Cipla, Dr.Reddy's, Hero Honda, Reliance Energy, SBI and BHEL are also down with substantial losses.

Tata Motors and NTPC are up 2% each at Rs 719 and Rs 117, respectively.

Tata Power up 1.6% at Rs 482, and Bharti up 1% at Rs 367 are the other notable gainers.

The market breadth has turned negative. Out of 2,519 stocks traded so far, 1,483 have declined, 970 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
