Sensex slumps 603pts; DLF, NTPC slide

The Sensex is now down 603 points at 19,098.

DLF has tumbled nearly 9% to Rs 990. NTPC has slumped 7.7% to Rs 236.

Reliance has plunged 5.5% to Rs 2,833. ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have dropped 4.5% each to Rs 1,260 and Rs 1,574, respectively.

ITC and Reliance Communications have slipped around 4% each to Rs 208 and Rs 701, respectively.

Cipla, Larsen & Toubro and Maruti have declined around 3.5% each to Rs 202, Rs 3,940 and Rs 838, respectively.

Tata Steel is down over 3% at Rs 785.

Ranbaxy has soared 4% to Rs 383. Ambuja Cements and Grasim are up 1% each at Rs 132 and Rs 3,340, respectively.

Out of 2,862 stocks traded so far, 2,268 have declined, 552 have advanced and 42 are unchanged.
