Sensex soars 1,002pts; REL zooms 12%

The Sensex is now up 1,002 points at 18,223.

Reliance Energy (REL) has zoomed 12% to Rs 2,033. ICICI Bank has soared 10.5% to Rs 1,251.

Ranbaxy and HDFC Bank have surged 9.5% each to Rs 380 and Rs 1,650, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has moved up 8.7% to Rs 3,846, and ONGC has added 8.4% to Rs 1,023.

Hindalco has rallied 7.6% to Rs 164. Tata Motors and NTPC have advanced nearly 7% each to Rs 707 and Rs 217, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra has surged 6% to Rs 663. ITC has gained 5.5% at Rs 199.

Out of 2,683 stocks traded so far, 1,358 have declined, 1,295 have advanced and 30 are unchanged.
