Sensex soars 167pts; ACC zooms 7%

All-round buying in the market lifted the Sensex to a new intra-day high of 10,550. The index is now up 167 points at 10,538.

ACC has soared over 7% to Rs 673. Grasim has surged 4.3% to Rs 1,817, and Gujarat Ambuja is up 2.6% at Rs 90.50.

Maruti has rallied 5.5% to Rs 867, and Tata Motors has zoomed 4.8% to Rs 853. Bajaj Auto has moved up 4% to Rs 2,705.

Satyam has spurted 4.7% to Rs 805. Bharti has added 3.8% to Rs 375. Infosys, Wipro and TCS have advanced over 2% each to Rs 2,896, Rs 532 and Rs 1,735, respectively.

BHEL has jumped over 4% to Rs 2,110. Larsen & Toubro and Dr.Reddy's have surged 2% each to Rs 2,443 and Rs 1,329, respectively.

Hindalco has gained 3% at Rs 158, and Tata Power has moved up 2.6% to Rs 524. Tata Steel is up 1.6% at Rs 438.

HLL, HDFC Bank and NTPC are up over 1% each.

ONGC is down 1.3% at Rs 1,121.

Out of 2,486 stocks traded so far, 1,294 have advanced, 1,117 have declined and 75 are unchanged.
