Sensex soars 170pts; breadth turns +ve

The Sensex is now up 170 points at 13,165.

SBI has rallied 3.5% to Rs 1,222. Gujarat Ambuja has surged 3.3% to Rs 135, and Reliance Communications has moved up 3% to Rs 416.

ICICI Bank advanced 2.5% to Rs 825. Larsen & Toubro, Reliance and Satyam are up around 2% each to Rs 1,424, Rs 1,233 and Rs 449, respectively.

HDFC Bank, ACC, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Energy, BHEL, Maruti, TCS, Grasim and Ranbaxy are the other prominent gainers.

Tata Steel has dropped 3% to Rs 428. ONGC and Cipla are down around 1% each to Rs 795 and Rs 238, respectively.

The market breadth has turned positive - out of 2,286 stocks traded so far, 1,140 have moved up, 1,095 have advanced and 51 are unchanged.
