Sensex soars 193pts; NTPC surges 4%

The Sensex is now up 193 points at 12,817.

NTPC has soared nearly 4% to Rs 160. BHEL and HDFC have surged 3.5% each to Rs 2,335 and Rs 1,475, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Wipro, Reliance Energy, Dr.Reddy's, Larsen & Toubro, Bharti Airtel and Cipla have advanced around 2% each to Rs 823, Rs 547, Rs 492, Rs 735, Rs 1,560, Rs 750 and Rs 229, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja has dropped 2.4% to Rs 103. Grasim has shed nearly 2% to Rs 2,066, and ACC has slipped 1.5% to Rs 694.
