Sensex soars 208pts; Wipro surges 8%

The Sensex touched a high of 9449, and is now up 208 points at 9446.

Frenzied buying at the Wipro counter has led the scrip zoom 8% to Rs 498.

BHEL has surged 5% to Rs 1,540. Hindalco is up 4.5% at Rs 159.

Satyam at Rs 746, Reliance Energy at Rs 619, Tata Motors at Rs 636 and Larsen & Toubro at Rs 1,898 have gained over 3% each.

Infosys, Tata Steel, NTPC, HDFC, Maruti, TCS, ACC, Cipla, HLL, ICICI Bank, SBI and Reliance have also posted significant gains.

HDFC Bank declined 1.3% to Rs 727.

Out of 2,556 stocks traded so far, 1,961 have advanced, 552 have declined and the rest are unmoved.
