Sensex soars 264pts; Metal index up 4%

The Sensex has zoomed to the day's high of 11,911 - up 264 points.

The BSE Metal index has surged 3.7% to 10,450. The Auto and Oil & Gas indices have gained 2.5% each at 5,477 and 5,623, respectively. The FMCG and IT indices are up 2% each at 2,275 and 4,092, respectively.

Cipla has soared 6% to Rs 262. ONGC has surged 4.7% to Rs 1,385. HDFC has advanced over 3% to Rs 1,295.

Maruti has zoomed 5% to Rs 911. Tata Motors has rallied 3.3% to Rs 948, and Bajaj Auto has added 2.8% to Rs 2,915.

Tata Steel has surged 4% to Rs 648. Hindalco is up 3.6% at Rs 213.

Out of 2,514 stocks traded so far, 1,631 have advanced, 809 have declined and 74 are unchanged.
